The edition of 10 is comprised of the varnish plates used in the printing process: the aluminum printing plates used to lay down a coat of varnish that sits on top of the book’s images. The irregular grid of shapes on the surface of each plate thus results from the placement of images within the book’s template. Over these shapes is printed an image of the freshly opened varnish pot used in the printing of the book.
